First opening fairs display design novelties

FAZ_Mag_cover

The October edition of the monthly German supplement Frankfurter Allgemeine Magazine is a special issue devoted to design, featuring: “New furniture for apartments and offices, a visit to Nora Fehlbaum, the finest German libraries, a forgotten village in Majorca and other ideas for homes and lifestyles.” This special edition has enabled its contributors to travel again, visiting the first furnishing fairs in Milan, Paris and Copenhagen.

The latest products flagged up by Peter-Philipp Schmitt, along with coverage of furniture and interior design fairs – “which finally resumed” with “supersalone” in Milan and others in Paris and Copenhagen, take up 5 middle pages. Italian products, as well as designers and companies, make up the majority of the selection, as follows: the Edit armchair by Anderssen & Voll for LaPalma, the Sibilla pendant lamp by Luca De Bona & Dario De Meo for Karman, the Soriana sofa by Afra and Tobia Scarpa for Cassina, the Dome Nomad lamps by Chiaramonte Marin for the Czech brand Brokis, Marco Lavit’s Lemni armchair/sculpture for Living Divani, Piero Lissoni’s Curry sofa for Porro, the Luis dressing table by Luca Roccadadria for Cantori, the Roger armchair by Fendi Casa (Luxury Living Group), Piero Lissoni’s Thierry glass and metal occasional tables for Kartell, the Sitlali rocking chair by Philippe Bestenheider for Fratelli Boffi, Charlotte Perriand’s  Ambassade screen reimagined by Cassina, Elena Salmistraro’s Sangaku coffee tables for Driade, the Quattro table by the Mist-o duo (Noa Ikeuchi and Tommaso Nani) for Frag, the multi-purpose Sir Vito small table by Studio Kairos (Giuseppe Manente and Abramo Mion) for B&B Italia, the Harper table by Antonio Citterio for Flexform, the Frame-Shift bookcase by Gabriele and Oscar Buratti for Moroso, Favaretto&Partners’ butler-shaped small Ambrogio table for Slide, Molteni’s reissue of Gio Ponti’s D.154.5 armchair, the Nui Mini table lamp by Meneghello Paolelli Associati for Luceplan, the sound-absorbent Snowpouf pouffe by Paola Navone for Caimi, BIG’s Vine desk lamp for Artemide, the Pierre collection of pouffes and coffee tables by Studio Contromano (Marco Gottardi, Stefania Crippa and Michele Bertolini) for Flou, Massimo Colagrande’s Plint LED spotlight for Nemo Lighting, the outdoor Kasbah sofa by David Lopez Quincoces for Living Divani, Vico Magistretti’s Edison table reissued by Cassina, Philippe Starck’s candle-shaped Goodnight lamps for Kartell, and the Ciuffo armchair from Fratelli Boffi. The sector’s recovery looks positive and promising, despite the global geopolitical instability.
