Beyond white: colour becomes a trend in today’s bathrooms
Dress System by Arblu
With measured colour choices and bolder accents, bathrooms become spaces worthy of note
Bathrooms have now superseded the concept of a neutral and purely functional environment. Nowadays they are rooms designed with the same care as the rest of the home, places where colour becomes an integral part of the language of interior design. With the hegemony of white now a thing of the past, new colour sensibilities are redefining their aesthetics, paving the way for more personal and ambitious choices.
Washbasins, often freestanding, are the focal point of the design, taking on an almost totemic presence, attracting the eye and interacting with the architecture. They can be combined with sanitary ware in earthy tones or brighter colours, in matt or glossy finishes, in line with current trends. Even the most technical elements contribute to the aesthetic definition of the space: taps, radiators and shower systems are available in numerous finishes, some of which can be customised, becoming furnishing elements in their own right. Accessories round off the design. Rugs, mirrors and personal care items add targeted accents, helping to lend character.
There are several ways of channelling colour choices: by creating monochrome bathrooms, with coordinated ceramics, accessories and wall and floor coverings, or by harnessing contrasting combinations, designed with the same logic used to choose and match materials for other rooms in the home.
The palette and combinations offer endless possibilities: from bold shades to delicate nuances, from colours inspired by nature to those that evoke relaxing oriental atmospheres. Thus, the space lends itself even to bold experiments, while maintaining a design consistency that guarantees formal balance and overall harmony.
The Nu collection, designed by Studio Inma Bermúdez for Roca, reinvents taps through colour and form. Three levers and six glossy finishes allow unique and personalised environments to be created.

Dispensers, bowls, towel rails and trays become functional elements with a powerful aesthetic impact, where the contrast between hot and cold surfaces transforms each component into a small design object.
