Combining Luxury, Fashion and Design
Formitalia Group, one of Italy’s most widely recognized luxury brands, has established a reputation for elegance and excellence by building its identity on refined materials, contemporary aesthetics and a constant search for quality. Its distribution strategy, based on boutiques and shop-in-shops in over fifty countries, reflects the Group’s commitment to offering a concept of furnishings ranging from the home to the office to contract spaces, including through exclusive licenses with renowned brands such as John Richmond.
At the 64th edition of the Salone del Mobile, Formitalia Group presented the JR Home collection by John Richmond, in Pavilion 13, Stand D20/D24, a project that rests on an integrated system where product, architecture and creative direction are inserted into the space as an integral part of the architecture, and the aesthetics of the fashion brand are embodied in settings where the furnishings become an extension of its identity. The living areas show five different structures of sofas with variations on modularity and seat depth. Among the various components of the collection, the following stand out: the JOEY sofa, which marks the start of the collaboration with Marco Casamonti & Partners, made from brown nubuck leather, with metal accessories in an antique finish; the wood is black ash and the stone beige onyx. The leather belts and laser-cut metal plates that traverse the structures introduce a detail that recalls the fashion world. The ROGER sofa and the SYD armchair define an essential setting, constructed on proportion and rhythm. The checkered workmanship of the sofa reflects the structure, while the red velvet of the seats defines a strong contrast. The dining space is built around the richness of the materials and their commanding presence. The tables display a markedly textured component, such as the MICK table featuring the use of onyx and enhanced by a backlight that heightens the sense of depth and transparencies. The KEITH chairs in white bouclé display a more delicate contrast in opposition to the visual strength of the table. In the sleeping area, on the other hand, beds and furnishings are defined by structured headboards and a calculated use of upholstery. The KURT bed in nubuck leather characterizes the space with a decisive presence, where the color blends with the backlit onyx panels. The display of the collection, consisting of a compact and recognizable architecture, was designed by Marco Casamonti with Archea Associati. The outer shell is defined by perforated black panels with glass backing and backlit surfaces, while the interior consists of a sequence of rooms featuring dark walls, wooden panelling, and decorative inserts.
Formitalia Group also includes a line linked to a collection of handmade glassware from the brand DIDI Collection, with its production based on a specialized Italian supply chain with workmanship by Florentine craftworkers who display excellence in craftsmanship. Remaining on the theme of craftsmanship and the Tuscan firm, the brand Mirabili, created as a visionary laboratory combining art, design and the culture of home living, continues its journey within the Formitalia Group, preserving its identity where artists and designers are chosen for their distinctive universe and their ability to interpret living spaces as emotional and sensory experiences. The company’s headquarters at Valenzatico remain its operational and organizational center, while its Milan headquarters and showroom form an essential platform for international presentations, welcoming partners, architects and developers. Accelerating Formitalia Group’s expansion have been strategic partnerships with global retailers, design studios and real estate developers. In this sector, the collaboration between Formitalia Group and John Richmond, for example, goes beyond furniture, also expanding into real estate, giving rise to an international series of residential and hospitality projects, including: Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Russia, Oman and Georgia, bringing the designer’s style to branded apartments, where each interior reflects a fusion of urban culture and luxury craftsmanship. In particular, the John Richmond District in Dubai, a project in collaboration with Mira Developments, marks a new chapter in branded luxury, a visionary concept that fuses fashion with design and architecture. The Dubai complex will include five residential towers and an eight- to ten-storey office tower, complemented by curated retail spaces and a wide range of five-star services. This integrated vision seeks to redefine the concept of contemporary lifestyle in a broader sense, going beyond the real-estate project itself but defining itself as a true cultural statement, where fashion becomes dwelling.
