In the run-up to the Salone 2023: furnishing the living room
For our home’s most representative space, in 2022 the trends were essential lines and breaking down the outdoor/indoor barrier
With eager anticipation growing for 18 April, when this year’s Salone del Mobile.Milano opens its doors to reveal manufacturers’ and designers’ latest products for the future, it is worth looking back at some of last year’s trendsetting offerings, particularly sofas and sideboards, so vital to every living space for the customization options they open up. The home’s most representative area, the living room, not just reflects who we are, it is where we host, live, and spend time relaxing, alone and with others.
Last year’s offerings were characterized by two trends: in seating, extreme rigour in lines through increasingly advanced technical research, albeit without penalizing functionality or comfort; and a blending of style between outdoor and indoor furniture, breaking down what was once a black and white distinction between inside and outside, living space and garden. The resulting open spaces are filled with a harmonious continuity of designs, textures, colours and materials, broadening our perception of space and placing us squarely at the centre of how we live, relax, and experience the home.
