Italian Design Day 2025: all about the ninth edition

The theme of the new edition of the Italian Design Day is "Inequalities. Design for a Better Life"
The title of the 9th edition of Italian Design Day is “Inequalities. Design for a Better Life”. Italian Design Day 2025” is being held on Wednesday 12th February. Following the successful 2024 edition, which focused on the theme Manufacturing Value - Inclusiveness, Innovation and Sustainability, this year’s event ties in with the theme of the upcoming Universal Exposition at Triennale Milano, Inequalities. How to Mend the Fractures of Humanity, scheduled to open in May. The aim of the Triennale project is to bring out the best policies and most representative projects that currently address the growth inequalities that cross and divide humanity in cities and in the world.
Italian Design Day 2025 also provides an opportunity for reflection ahead of the 63rd edition of the Salone del Mobile.Milano, being held from 8th to 13th April 2025 at Rho Fiera Milano. Italian Design Day is intended to underscore the importance of high quality design in curbing and mitigating inequalities, lowering their impact on daily life.
The project falls within the framework of the Permanent Board for the Internationalisation of Design, coordinated by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, which takes in the Ministry of Culture, the Association for Industrial Design (ADI), the Compasso d'Oro Foundation, ITA – Italian Trade Agency, the Salone del Mobile.Milano, Triennale Milano, FederlegnoArredo, the Altagamma Foundation, and Confindustria.
As in previous years, this year there again will be an exhibition of panels entitled Lifetime Achievement Photography. A Tribute by Italian Photographers to the Compasso d'Oro Masters of the last 25 years. The special guest will be the Italian-Bulgarian designer Assia Karaguiozova, who in addition to presenting a conference, will be organising a creative workshop for students at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia, at which participants will have an opportunity to create some design objects under her expert guidance.
