Ryo bookcase, design Nao Tamura
LIGHT LINES IN SPACE, BALANCING TENSION AND EQUILIBRIUM
After collaborating on the Origata bench and desk, Nao Tamura returns to design for Porro with the Ryo bookcase. A shimmering fifth element within the space, Ryo is composed of long horizontal shelves supported by adjustable triangular elements made by folding a single sheet of aluminum, together creating open, multifunctional shelving systems for storing books and objects.
A matrix for composing dynamic spaces, Ryo takes shape as a sculptural object with a deconstructivist design language that goes beyond pure functionality. It becomes a surface where light shimmers and shadows interact, enhanced by an almost invisible protective finish that preserves the material’s raw texture and natural character.
