Sergio Buttiglieri has been since 2006 Style Director of Sanlorenzo, the first shipyard in the world as mono-brand for yachts and super-yachts beyond 24 metres. Of classical background, he was educated in Parma, where he studied with the eminent art historian Arturo Quintavalle.
In the wake of an enduring passion, he is also a long- time author of theatrical and artistic reviews for several journals.
A former Technical Director from 1986 to 2006 for Driade, a firm founded by Enrico Astori, where he could interact with the great names of contemporary design and starchi- tects, he had the chance, thanks to Massimo Perotti, an uncommonly open-minded sailing entrepreneur who had just acquired Sanlorenzo, of injecting with his endorsement his own alien notions into that sector, so to link an organic relation with the world of design and topical places of con- temporary art as Art Basel in all its events in the world and the 2022 Biennale d’Arte, where SanLorenzo was the Main Sponsor of the Italian Pavilion.
In 2022, he was awarded the prestigious Premio Montale fuori di casa, just for those unexpected cultural connec- tions with shipyards.
