A native of California, Ivan Carvalho is a journalist who has covered Italy since 2003. He has extensive experience working in print and video, covering topics from design to food & dining. He began his journalism career at Wired magazine in San Francisco. Since 2007, he has worked as Milan correspondent for Monocle magazine and has contributed to a number of publications, including Fortune, Italy’s Icon Design, Swedish interiors magazine Plaza Deco as well as in-flight media for Swiss Airlines, SAS and Emirates.
He was previously a copy editor for Cartier Art magazine and the English-language version of Domus, where he worked with then editor-in-chief Stefano Boeri. Carvalho is an experienced editor who has worked on custom publishing projects for leading companies in the luxury goods and design industries, including Boffi, De Padova, Jaeger-LeCoultre and Van Cleef & Arpels.
A contributor to Portuguese wine monthly Revista de Vinhos, he currently splits his time between Milan and Lisbon.
