New products: functionality, sustainability and style

A concern for technological innovation and new generation materials - or those treated to become highly durable - is a feature of the most avant-garde products presented at the recent Salone del Mobile.Milano. This trend is driven by sustainability, an essential quality for the protection of the environment highly necessary today, which also passes through the recovery of the value of durability in everything people use in their daily lives. 

At the same time, the search for new production techniques and treatments of raw materials, combined with firmly embedded craft know-how,  today make it possible to translate into reality the most ambitious visions of designers, formerly unattainable. The result is furnishings, often designed for interiors but also capable of withstanding atmospheric agents; lamps that can camouflage themselves in nature or that evoke it for interiors in the name of bio-architecture; cabinets, wardrobes, consoles and desks that combine different materials such as wood and leather for a timeless aesthetic; tiles and carpets that recover tradition by combining it with innovation. 

Clean forms are also a transversal trend affecting all kinds of products, from tables to padded furnishings and lighting, in keeping with the principle “less is more”. The  lines are fluid, simple; the emotion is created by textured sensations or by surprisingly intriguing and discontinuous elements such as weaves and knots. 

In short, whether it is the home interior or a contract solution for hospitality or work, a contemporary must is to constantly pursue a general sense of well-being.
