A contrast of glossy and matte perforated surfaces: Cielo presents itself as a delicate perforated pattern in bisque that simultaneously embraces and enhances any glazed sideboard surface. Our iconic design was created in 1992, when Stefanie Hering experimented with hand-drilled pieces to test how much mass could be removed from the clay without loss of form - to the limits of what was possible.
Cielo is our most elaborate decor: each hole is hand-drilled into unfired porcelain, refined with steel blades, and sponged. After firing at 1400°C, the perforated surface is hand-polished with diamond tools for a perfect, artisanal finish.
