The Caplin line is a reference to Roxey Ann Caplin, a British writer and inventor. One of her feats was the creation of the Victorian corset, which the Caplin chair and sofa resemble in their accentuated curves and waistline. Caplin lived in England in 1848 and her strength was transferred to pieces that offered both delicacy and strength.
