With Terrazzo, he translates the enduring appeal of traditional Venetian terrazzo flooring — iconic surfaces composed of cement and stone fragments — into a refined textile expression. The rug reimagines this architectural language as a soft yet sophisticated composition: a neutral ground evokes cement, while irregular inlays emerge like precious fragments, recreating the spontaneous rhythm of the original surface.
Beyond its aesthetic research, Terrazzo marks a significant material innovation for the brand. For the first time in its history, Illulian introduces jute yarn as the foundation of the rug. This natural, resilient fibre lends the piece a more tactile, slightly raw texture compared to wool or silk, visually echoing the compact quality of cement. The neutral tone of the jute provides the perfect backdrop for raised inserts in natural silk, whose higher pile captures the light and recalls the faceted brilliance of embedded stones.
