The SaloneSatellite programme of events
Universo Satellite
The exhibition celebrates the 25-year history of SaloneSatellite, a pivotal contemporary design reality. An exhibition resembling a great wunderkammer studded with hundreds of brilliant objects conceived by as many designers, as well as photographs and documents, catalogues and drawings, sketches and much more.
Devised as a “planet” revolving around the Salone del Mobile di Milano, SaloneSatellite has long since become a real “universe” in its own right, and the exhibition “Universo Satellite”, edited by Beppe Finessi, celebrates its 25-year history. All the “ingredients” of an unbeatable recipe, dreamt up by Marva Griffin in 1998, have combined to create this pivotal international design event, set up for the occasion in the spaces of the Triennale by Ricardo Bello Dias, with graphic design by Studio òbelo. SaloneSatellite has always been generously promoted and supported by the Salone del Mobile di Milano and has managed over the years to grow and carve out an original, increasingly recognisable position for itself, becoming a very real universe, “centred” around a strong, unitary, and multifaceted concept which, over time, has interwoven people, schools, entrepreneurs and companies around the projects by young designers.

SaloneSatellite Award 2024
In the year of the 25th anniversary of the event devoted to the under-35s, the award set up by SaloneSatellite in 2010 to incentivise the designers’ work, ushered in a new departure. As a testament to taking part, and a memento of the award, a trophy was added to the usual diploma. The idea for the metal sculpture – “Riflettendo” – came from the artist Daniele Basso, himself a former SaloneSatellite debutant. Invited to produce the piece, he decided to take the Singer chair “for very brief visits” designed by Bruno Munari in 1948 as his inspiration for the tribute to the young designers. In his interpretation, the famous chair/sculpture is made in red, to chime with the image of the Salone del Mobile.Milano, and is intended to transmit the teachings of the Master, a cross-cutting point of reference for Italian and international design. “Find another way of doing things,” he suggested, somewhere between theory and practice. The call to change mindsets on design and on what surrounds us would seem to dovetail with the commitment and creativity showcased year upon year at SaloneSatellite. Advice that the Award intends to carry on spreading.

SALONESATELLITE TABLE TENNIS Are you a Table Tennis player?
Studio Adriano Design formed by two brothers, Gabriele and Davide, from Turin, Italy, participated in the past years to SaloneSatellite and are now very well-known designers with several awards including the famous and most important “Compasso d’Oro” for their creativity. Among these, they have designed for an Italian Company exhibiting in Salone del Mobile.Milano an incredible Tennis Table, other than a Calciobalilla in many versions.
As an amusing event to celebrate SaloneSatellite 25th ANNIVERSARY, we have decided to create a Table Tennis Game Match between the Past Designers and SaloneSatellite 2024 newcomers.
There is always a winner, who will be?
The match will be organized by Teckell, the company producing the table, and it will take place in SaloneSatellite, pavilion 7.
