After Shanghai, it's the turn of Hong Kong. The Salone del Mobile.Milano continues its journey into the heart of China. “SaloneSatellite Permanent Collection 1998-2024 Exhibition” is the title of the exhibition that from 11 to 21 November will be displayed on the premises of the Arts Pavilion West Kowloon. It will showcase over 100 products from the more than 360 displayed at the Artwood Academy - Polo Formativo del Legno Arredo Fondazione ITS Rosario Messina at Lentate sul Seveso. A selection of exhibits presented in the 25 years of the event devoted to designers under 35m, offering visitors an insight into the history of design, while testifying to the Salone del Mobile.Milano’s concern for and commitment to budding talents.
The exhibition is being held at the request of IDFFHK International Design Furniture Fair Hong Kong and Designworks Foundation and is curated by Marva Griffin Wilshire, Founder and Curator of SaloneSatellite and Ambassador of International Relations of the Salone del Mobile.Milano, with her team and the architect Ricardo Bello Dias. He also designed the exhibition and graphics, as well as the artistic soul of all the installations of the SaloneSatellite since the first edition, with the support of Hariadna Pinate, architect of Studio Bello Dias.
The Arts Pavilion is located in the exhibition center of Hong Kong's West Kowloon Cultural District, also the location of the M+ Pavilion designed by Herzog & de Meuron, the emblem of Victoria Harbour in the Chinese metropolis. The setting presents the intuitions and visions of young designers, working with traditional processes and modern 3D printing techniques in a multiplicity of materials: wood, glass, metal, textiles, cork, resins.
In the words of Marva Griffin Wilshire: “Bringing a part of the SaloneSatellite's Permanent Collection to Hong Kong is not just an opportunity to raise awareness of the work of many talented young designers, but also to celebrate global creativity and the importance of innovation in design. The cultural exchange underlines the fundamental role of the SaloneSatellite in enhancing and supporting the new protagonists of the international project. And it is the finest way to conclude a year of celebrations for its 25th anniversary”.
