Stories Arianna Lago and a perfectly tidy mess Text by Laura Ghigliazza Photo by Arianna Lago Add to bookmarks ARCOSNTI Everything looks as it should be. Except for the occasional shaft of blinding light and the jangling tones of tiny wind chimes. BLUE HOUR Thin glass windows let in the searing heat. Tinder-dry brush attaches tightly to homespun clothing. Photographer Arianna Lago’s images speak of vibrant colors, bygone buildings, and shoes full of sand. Arcosanti is a projected experimental town built in the 1970s right in the heart of Arizona. Everything looks as it should be, except for the occasional shaft of blinding light and the jangling tones of tiny wind chimes. The photos are dominated by yellow and green hues that pleach into streaks of blue. Inspired by wastelands of unexplored lands and her travels to Sri Lanka and California, the photographer proffers flawlessly impromptu studies in still life featuring shiny tin cans and higgledy-piggledy arrangements of perfectly formed fruit. IIUVO From time to time, nature’s silent and untamable side takes over. If I put my mind to it, I hear the buzzing of insects rustling in the leaves and on the pendants of gold necklaces.
