RIBBONS extends DEDON's defining craft philosophy - the conviction that how something is made is its design - into new material territory.

In every considered interior, the floor is part of the design - not background, but a surface as deliberate as everything above it. With RIBBONS, that moment has arrived outdoors. The outdoor carpet collection brings craft, warmth and considered design to the floor for the first time: broad ribbons of woven fabric, interlaced at the scale of a terrace, creating a surface that defines a space, anchors a setting and invites the kind of barefoot, unhurried living that DEDON has always been about.

RIBBONS extends DEDON's defining craft philosophy - the conviction that how something is made is its design - into new material territory. The collection comprises five formats across three shapes, each constructed using a distinct technique and available in six colorways across three nature-inspired families. Woven knitted straps for the rectangular formats. Braided coiling, produced in Italy exclusively for DEDON, for the round and obround. Two ancient craft traditions, one collection, one shared conviction. Placed beneath a DEDON setting, RIBBONS does not merely cover the ground - it completes it.

RIBBONS is built on a single, powerful principle: the construction is the design. There is no pattern applied to a backing, no printed surface and no decorative finish laid over a neutral ground. The fabric, the technique and the visual character of each carpet are one and the same - exactly as the hand-woven patterns of DEDON furniture collections are not decoration applied to a form, but the form itself. Material and surface, making and meaning: inseparable.

The rectangular carpets take their logic from the loom - broad, ribbon-like straps of knitted fabric interlaced in an over-under grid, scaled up to the proportions of a terrace. What on a domestic loom would be a thread becomes, in RIBBONS, a generous band of fabric. The weave is made visible, the structure legible from across an outdoor room. It is a textile that has grown to the scale of the space it inhabits.
