“A project is never born from a person’s mind, but it is the result of a group of people working together. I have worked with Lorenzo Porro for a long time, and we often tell each other stories. One of the stories that came out some time ago was: can we draw a table that doesn’t have a precise position? A round table has no leader. And then, is it possible to mix this kind of almost religious model of conviviality with a slightly more friendly way of sitting around this table? And we put those rotating trays that you always find on Chinese tables, but made with a little more craftsmanship. This is the story of Materic”.

The Materic table designed in 2017 changes its face thanks to an upside-down assembly, where the black stained ash usually used for the base is now used for the top, a dark veined surface only interrupted by the central flush tray, and the conical base is expertly made in metal, matt satin stainless steel. The result has an extraordinary visual impact, between glamor, industrial and futurist.
The wooden top is available in all the wood of the collection, and the metal base is available in inox matt satin steel and brunished brass finishes.

Materic is available also with top in marble with wooden base.
The top in marble, available in 7 fine nuances ranging from verde rameggiato to the more traditional white Carrara marble or in all the wood essences of our collection. The table top can also feature a rotating tray in the middle. The base is made up of 12 sandblasted natural ash, black stained or dark brown stained solid ash boards that are turned and connected to one another with finger joints so as to obtain a perfect truncated cone with a distinct wood grain.

The Materic table, designed by Piero Lissoni, is a sculptural object where the absolute simplicity of design is juxtaposed to the sophistication of materials and workmanships.
Materic features a round and tapered table top, laying on a turned truncated cone as a base. The top comes in marble, available in 7 fine nuances, or in wood, in all the veneered wood of Porro collection. The table top can also featu-re a rotating tray in the middle or with a wooden free standind swivel Lasy Susan The base is made up of 12 black stained solid ash, sandblasted natural solid ash or dark brown stained solid ash boards; as an alternative the base is also available in a metal version in matt satin stainless steel or burnished brass finishes.

Production process

The base is made up of 12 black stained, dark-brown stained, sandblasted natural solid ash boards that are turned and connected to one another with finger joints so as to obtain a perfect truncated cone with a distinct wood grain, the base can be also completely in metal, covered with a metal plate in inox steel or burnished brass finishes.
