Save money on your application for a registered design with the SME Fund. The SME Fund is a grant scheme designed to help EU small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) protect their intellectual property rights. 

The SME Fund issues vouchers that can be used to partially cover application costs. With Voucher 2 you can get reimbursed 75% of the cost of your registered EU design (€350) reducing the price to just €88. 


The SME Fund has different vouchers you can apply for including:

  • Voucher 1 𝗜𝗣 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗻 & 𝗜𝗣 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: 𝟵𝟬% reimbursement 
    (only available in participating EU Member States)
  • Voucher 2 – 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝘀 & 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝘀: 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝟳𝟱% reimbursement
  • Voucher 3 – 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝟳𝟱% reimbursement
  • Voucher 4 – 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗩𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: 𝟳𝟱% reimbursement

To get your voucher, you will need PDF copies of your company’s VAT certificate or national registration number certificate and bank statement. Then, simply follow these steps: 

  1. Register for your SME Fund account, log in and submit the Grant application form with the relevant documents;
  2. Once your application is approved, you will receive a notification email with your grant decision and your voucher;
  3. Request to register your EU design using the guided application form (EUD EasyFiling) and pay for the filing fees;
  4. Submit your reimbursement request through your SME Fund account.
