A spark of inspiration - Outstanding architecture meets iconic kitchen design.

Creative Makers

Creative Makers are people who creative, inspire, and use next125. They define the strong and individualistic brand identity – different from all the rest. These Makers deal with attitude, form, materials, colour and space around objects in their own way. True visionaries who stand for dynamism, creativity and innovation.

next125's new creative maker is Burkinan-German architect Diébédo Francis Kéré.

Francis Kéré

Born in Burkina Faso in 1965, he came to Germany on a bursary. Here, he began a degree in architecture after completing an apprenticeship as a joiner. During his degree, he completed his first commission: a primary school in his home village. Kéré was presented with the renowned Aga Khan Award for his work.

He designed the Opera Village in Africa for director Christoph Schlingensief, has worked for constructors all over the world, accepted a professorship at the Technical University of Munich in 2017 and later a visiting professorship at Yale. The 59 year old is currently one of the most in-demand building designers worldwide.

Together, next125 and Francis Kéré present "The Fireplace".

"The Fireplace"

The iconic result of an outstanding cooperation, "The Fireplace" stands for a place of companionship which creates an emotional link to nature and the elements. Similar to the traditional fireplaces in Kéré’s homeland of Burkina Faso, next125 kitchens can be seen as meeting places full of warmth and conviviality where friends and family come together, cook together, exchange views and share emotions. ‘The Fireplace’ is inspiration in the form of a room, where the metaphorical spark can fly freely. Wood, which fuels fire and is a core material in the manufacturing of next125 kitchens, is a highly significant feature here.

"With ‘The Fireplace’, I want to move people emotionally and bring together the Archaic style and perfection in form"

Francis Kéré

The Fascination of Fire - A symbiosis of two worlds

The symbiosis of the worlds of Kéré and next125 results in a unique installation that plays on the coarseness of the wood and brings its natural properties to the fore. Whilst the rough nature of the wooden dome mesmerises visitors inside the pavilion, the well-planned framework of the creation is revealed from the outside. Through the gaps between the bundles of wood, natural light falls onto the kitchen and bathes ‘The Fireplace’ in an atmospheric glow. This makes the new campaign motif much more than just a visual feature.
