The console Bijou was imagined like an exquisite gift, created from a precious material to be admired like a work of art but also to keep one’s treasures. The golden metal sheets delicately swirl in the air like a ribbon. With it’s intimate scale and warm tones the console is a glamorous and seductive work. The fluidity and harmony of the lines contrast with the complexity of the technique which requires a perfect balance in the use of the material. Entirely made out of brass the Bijou integrates three different finishes; the satinated surface is nuanced by a burnished patina inside the curves forming the feet and the one atop the console presents a delicate jewel-like polish.

Since 1992, Brussels-based designer Xavier Lust has been recognized for the visible tension within his objects and the curves generated through his innovative process of metal deformation.
