The Grand Tour collection is composed of seven strong, natural, durable fabrics:

Suzuka, Le Mans, Imola, Monza, Interlagos, Indianapolis and Silverstone.

These wool-rich fabrics are influenced by original automobile fabric patterns from the Backhausen archive, all woven to perform.

They combine the experienced knowledge of Backhausen’s weavers, the innovative technologies of Jacquard weaving machines, and the highly beneficial properties of pure wool.

Backhausen selected wool as its main natural fibre to achieve maximum results and a winning performance. Among its many excellent natural properties, wool is naturally flame retardant and hard-wearing, making it the perfect fabric to succeed.

The original patterns and designs were custom-made by Backhausen for automotive interiors between the 1930s and 1960s, a significant period of development in the automobile industry.

The 1930s were a time of transformation in design expression and technical advancement. The interiors changed from practical minimalist features to sporty, stylish design elements. The focus was on speed and design.

Similarly, the Grand Tour collection aims to accomplish similar qualities by revisiting successful designs and enhancing them for the 21st century.

Suzuka, Le Mans, Imola, Monza, Interlagos, Indianapolis and Silverstone are some of the most challenging race circuits around the world. To win on these tracks, the driver, the car and the teams must be tough, passionate, fearless, confident and must know how to maximize performance.
