Eclectic. Exuberant. Brilliant. Gaetano Pesce in a nutshell. Artist, architect, designer, a creative tout court, capable of anticipating and leveraging the figurative universe of today by creating a highly imaginative ecosystem of projects and objects that have themselves become true icons.
Padua, the city in which he took his first steps as an artist, has dedicated a major retrospective to him, providing an overview of a career consistently characterised by a sense of and powerful lust for cross-contamination. Multidisciplinarity is his stylistic code. Architecture, design, music and fashion his stamping grounds. No barriers exist between the various disciplines, because his curiosity drives Pesce to explore creative thinking in the round. His is a contemporary, different, whimsical and colourful approach, betraying a character constantly on the look-out for new materials, shapes and images that will trigger reflection on the values of contemporaneity and on the meaning of time.
Gaetano Pesce. Multidisciplinary Time comprises a huge body of works, more than 200 of them, covering a career spanning 60 years, in an unusual exhibition layout designed to provide a personalised experience free from temporal constraints. The exhibition was conceived by the artist as an invitation to visitors to actively explore his world, wending their way along platforms of various heights and sizes on which the works have been placed, with no thought for chronological order. The different pathways serve to illustrate the themes that characterise his creative mindset.
