Barro is a handmade pendant that quite literally starts from the earth of Oaxaca
Barro pendant lamps represent the conjunction of tradition and innovation. Incredibly versatile, they integrate easily to elevate their respective surroundings - over a dining table or kitchen island, or dotted over a long bar in a restaurant.
From Oaxaca, and in partnership with Caterina Moretti of Peca design studio located in Guadalajara, Graypants continues to explore new materials and mediums. As a designer, Catarina’s inspiration comes from nature and raw materials, and specifically, their ability to offer multiple possibilities for shapes and textures - from the deeply special to the everyday. Barro is a handmade pendant that quite literally starts from the earth of Oaxaca, and uses age-old, region-specific techniques to create something truly beautiful and unique. A clay pendant and a hand-blown glass shade are a stunning marriage of natural materials and the result is a handmade piece of art.
Our pendant lamps are two unique statement pieces. The first is a handmade hub made from burnished red and tan clay, combined with a transparent, hand blown glass shade. The second brings to the foreground a traditional charcoal tone produced in the firing process specific to the Oaxacan area called barro negro, and is combined with a smoked glass shade.
