DeLightFuL, the film made by multi-award winning Italian director Matteo Garrone for the 2017 Salone del Mobile.Milano, is featuring along with the Milano Design Film Festival, after being screened in Milan and in Venice as part of the same event, and in New York at the Architecture & Design Film Festival.
This Wednesday, 19th June, MDFF Greece-Athens 2020 will be presented in Athens as part of Design Month at the new Depot 6 showroom in Piraeus, a meeting point for designers, architects and interior designers selected for the quality and innovative value of their designs. The theme of the Athens festival is Light. Two films d’auteur are being screened: Sette Miliardi (Max Rommel, Italy 2014), narrated by Andrea Branzi, design theoretician and designer at global level, and DeLightFuL (Matteo Garrone, Italy 2017) which narrates the excitement and fascination of design and furnishing, the undisputed stars of the Salone del Mobile.Milano. In a setting that contrives to be both natural and dreamlike, magical and surreal, the film takes a look at the world of design and at contemporary life, with objects and people moving against a background of fantastical atmospheres. The spectator’s imagination becomes entangled in the fine line between real and imaginary landscapes and the permeability and dialogue between the different spaces, against a backdrop that leaves one free to formulate one’s own, personal and unconventional take on the objects.
This short film formed an integral part of the contemporary design exhibition DeLightFuL (Design, Light, Future, Living), curated by Ciarmoli – Queda for the 56th edition of the Salone del Mobile.Milano. The exhibition and the film share the same concept, the idea that the contemporary domestic space is an expression of man’s primeval, authentic and essential needs.
