LEONARDO VASE

Leonardo Da Vinci is probably the most known and celebrated italian genius in the world; 500 years after its birth, Villari also wants to join the celebrations that saw the focus of this edition of the Salone del Mobile in the master. In this regard, Leone Villari also decided to dedicate a personal project to the great inventor. Dying at a study carried out for the book ‘’De Divina Proportione‘’, written by Fra Luca Pacioli between 1496 and 1497, Leone used the illustrations that Leonardo carried out as a project basis, referring to the Golden Section and leaning on Pacioli’s study on various and possible applications of proportion in art, architecture, anatomy and mathematics.

In particular, Villari's main inspiration was the illustration of two drawings, semiregular polygons (or archimedes), spheres whose surfaces are divided into sections. The figures represented by Leonardo appear as suspended and mysterious, made almost real by the wise use of lighting and shading. Hence the idea of reworking this fascinating form, emptied, cut at the ends and embellished with profiles that outline its shape, keeping the configuration created by the master almost intact. The result is interesting and elegant objects, embellished with a discreet but present figurative baggage, a small tribute to such a decisive figure in the historical, cultural
and social panorama of our country.
