The Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymus Bosch as you’ve never seen it

segnali_Bosch_990.jpg

An experience of immersion in the most iconographically ambitious and complex work of Hieronymous Bosch, conserved at the Museo del Prado in Madrid. The website – or interactive documentary, as its authors describe it - Hieronymus Bosch, The Garden of Earthly Delights (https://tuinderlusten-jheronimusbosch.ntr.nl/), allows the user to interactively explore the famous triptych through a zoom function that reveals even the most minute details of the internal and external panels.

There are different modes of navigation: you can choose to explore the different sections freely, or you can opt for the audioguided tour – supplemented with texts – that explains the compositional details and iconographic meanings while also providing information on the historical context of Bosch’s time.

Hieronymus Bosch, The Garden of Earthly Delights is part of a transmedia triptych that comprises the film/documentary Hieronymus Bosch, Touched by the Devil, created by Pieter van Huijstee, and the virtual reality documentary Hieronymus Bosch, The Eyes of the Owl. The triptych is one among many initiatives inspired by the 500th anniversary of the painter’s death in 1516.
