One of the world’s major international nautical events will be taking place from 20th to 25th September in Genoa. The Boat Show is 58 this year, and remains an unmissable appointment for professionals, producers and buyers, as well as for sea lovers. Six days of dream boats, business conferences, workshops, events, sporting prizes and sea experience activities, with the accent on quality and Made in Italy.
The Boat Show is a benchmark for the entire marine leisure sector in Europe and the Mediterranean, and is unique in being able to exhibit all the latest in marine manufacturing, motors, electronics, accessories, tourism and services on one single site, either at sea, on land or under cover. There will be 948 exhibitors this year, with a marked rise in the inboard motor section, and even greater numbers in the outboard motor section. This will consolidate recovery in this particular sector of the Italian market and underscore Italy’s central role as an international marine leisure hub.
Two new flagships were launched by Italian shipyards in 2018. The historic Baglietto company’s new 48 metre T-Line yacht company boasts a steel hull and aluminium superstructures, with 4 cabins arranged over 350 m2, a 140 m2 sun deck and a 9.5 m full beam master cabin on the main deck; and the new Mylius 80’, the company’s first Flush Deck, designed by the architect Alberto Simeone and built with ample use of carbon fibre. Its deck plan makes it suitable both for cruising and regattas, with large amounts of space freed up by the absence of steps on deck and, especially, by a lower-slung deckhouse. The interiors, lit by windows that make up the roof of the deckhouse, consist of three cabins and the master cabin forward of the living area on the port side and a separate kitchen area on the starboard side, along with a fourth cabin for guests or crew.
The 2018 edition of the Boat Show has many other innovations in store. Sanlorenzo is presenting the Sanlorenzo SL102 which, thanks to its unusual and revolutionary design with a single side deck only on the starboard side of the yacht – a solution that enables 10 square metres to be recouped below deck – making it the first asymmetrical motor yacht in the world. Azimut Yachts, the shipyard’s sporting range, is unveiling Azimut S6, its second-generation S model. It is a pure coupé and extremely easy to handle. The exterior was designed by Stefano Righini, and the elegant, contemporary and sophisticated interiors by Francesco Guida. The Amer Yachts series, from the Permare Group, which is celebrating its 45th anniversary, is represented by the new Amer 100 Duchessa, a 29.60 metre motor yacht capable of speeds of up to 29 knots and a 25-knot cruising speed. The latest environmentally-friendly exhibits include the Swiss multinational energy company Repower’s fully electric boat, RepowerE, – which can also be charged at e-car rapid charging stations.
