56th edizione Salone del Mobile.Milano: overview

The 56&th edition of Salone del Mobile.Milano is closed with 343.602 attendees in 6 days from 165 countriesMore than 2,000 exhibitors overall, 34% of them from other countries, were split between the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition, Euroluce, Workplace3.0 and SaloneSatellite. This edition has served more than ever to underscore the Salone’s powerful synergy with the city of Milan.

The figures confirm the positive trend evidenced in the Salone del Mobile and the biennial Euroluce and Workplace3.0 pavilions right from the off, marking a 10% increase on the 2015 edition, the last time the lighting and workplace biennials were held.

For the first time in the history of Salone del Mobile, the exhibition was officially opened by the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella.

Following the successful launch of the last edition of xLux – the section devoted to timeless luxury reworked in a contemporary vein – the Salone Internazionale del Mobile has continued its updating activities and brought in an innovative format for classic furniture and furnishing accessories, under a new name, Classic: Tradition in the future, and with a more homogeneous, balanced and fluid layout. A central “promenade” has taken visitors into a space that draws on values such as patrimony of knowledge, craftsmanship and the skills needed to create classic furniture and objects.

A small, stylish exhibition devised by Simone Ciarmoli and Miguel Queda is being restaged to underscore this new concept. It takes the form of a Warehouse, in which classic pieces of furniture and accessories live on in the tradition of the future.

Now into its 29th edition, Euroluce showcases the very best the lighting market has to offer, from decorative products to illuminotechnical products – used in the industrial, street, theatrical and hospital lighting sectors – as well as lighting and home automation systems, light sources and lighting application software, all with a particular focus on energy saving, environmental sustainability and light pollution.

Workplace3.0 – now into its 18th edition – is based on an innovative concept built around design and technology for designing workspaces and is an event that responds to the rapid change in the world of work and the latest market demands.

The exhibition has showcased the ultimate furnishing solutions for offices, banks, insurance offices, post offices and public spaces; chairs for offices and community spaces, acoustic products, internal partitions and coverings, office furnishing accessories, audio-visual technologies and technical and security systems.
