TRADITION MEETS MODERN

"Our generation has ended up believing that being modern means being part of a chain with one hand in the future and one in the past."

"A school like a high school for studying classical subjects provides important information because its cultural curriculum, which begins with "rosa, rosae" and then carries on through to Greek (…), reminds us that, not just in languages and not just in Latin and Greek,  there are always extremely important things, things slightly less important, things that are even less important, and things which can be used however we see fit. There is a lot to be learnt from this, which translates nicely into our profession."

The Golem chair, designed for Poggi in 1968, was a homage to Rennie Mackintosh’s chairs, but Magistretti’s intention to adapt the Scottish master’s elaborate sophistication to the modern demand for ergonomics is manifest.
